Problem -

The Internet has been used by travelers since 1996 to locate, review, and contact a prospective property.  We call this e-mail processing!  The On-line leisure market has grown from $31 million in revenues then, to $6.8 Billion in 1999, and the trend continues. To-day, travelers want to do more.   They want to be able to check availability, review unit amenities, and make their reservations, without having to wait for email responses to their requests.

In Whistler, the traditional Central Reservation System, has partnered with an out-of-town service, to "sell" Whistler nightly accommodation's.  This partnership provides distribution sales for many Condo Managers, BnB's, Hotels, and Private Owners.  Previously, accommodation suppliers, could rely on at least two distribution partners to "sell" their unit availability.  Some businesses, utilize even more distribution partners.  All distribution partners charge a 10 - 17% commission for each sale.  Are your revenue's benefiting from these new distibution partnerships?

Solution -

Imagine controlling your own distribution sales, by adding "Real-Time", On-Line e-Reservations, to your web site, for considerably less commission.  Imagine building a stronger Search Engine and Web Site marketing and promotion process, from the revenue's you save, by adding "Real-Time" Reservations to your web site.

About Resorts Systems

It was 1978 and Digital Equipment Corp. had just launched the VAX minicomputer with 4.3 GB of storage, Wang Labs introduced the 5¼” floppy disk drive to the market and Texas Instruments launched the first electronic duplication of the human voice in a microchip when it introduced the “Speak & Spell” learning aid for children.  It was also the year Resort Systems Inc. (RSI) was founded in West Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada and went in to business developing leading edge software solutions for the hotel and resort industry.

By the early 80’s, Resort Systems was well on its way to becoming a world leader in the Hotel Property Management Software market with the launch of HotelSoft.   The years to follow saw many great advances in the HotelSoft product and eventually the product was changed from its Super DOS platform to the more robust UNIX platform and dubbed HotelSoft Classic.  The 90’s saw Resort Systems moving gradually in to Windows based products and eventually HotelSoft & InnQuick for Windows was developed.

With the demand of more advanced features, secure products and higher technology being pressed on software companies around the world, the need for Resort Systems to evolve was apparent.  Industry began looking at better and more efficient ways to harness technology and conduct business.

One highly touted method of deploying and implementing software was through an Application Service Provider or “ASP”.  Industry analysts and standards organizations like the Gartner Group, IDC and GIGA all responded to ASP’s in a positive manner due to the incredible positive effect it had on an organizations Information Technology Total Cost of Ownership.  By the late 90’s, Resort Systems was designing and developing all of its products, other than HotelSoft Classic as ASP delivered products.  At the turn of the century, Resort Systems became a publicly listed company (TSX-V: LLX) and began to aggressively expand to further develop its new product lines.

Today, after nearly 25 years in business and having installed its products in to hundreds of properties around the world, Resort Systems continues to provide world-class industry leading products and services.

The Resort Systems primary product line today consists of a full line of ASP, Windows based, software solutions for just about any kind of property and accommodation management application.

bulletInnQuick for Windows™ for small to mid-sized hotels, motels, inns, hostels, quarters, dormitories and resorts.
bulletPropSoft for Windows™ is a suite of applications designed for condominiums, chalets, cottages, hotel rooms and other accommodations that are individually owned but managed centrally by a single central management organization.
bulletResLinx for Windows™ or “WebRes™” is our own real-time online reservation and distribution via the Internet software solution.  The ResLinx software is included with all of our ASP Property Management Software packages.  ResLinx can also be installed with clients who are using a Front Desk Reservation Software program, to bring your inventory to your web site reservation process.

NEWS - Resort Systems to Help Its Clients with Distribution!

To further expand our capabilities as a full solutions provider for the hotel, resort and vacation properties industry, RSI has recently acquired the RezPlus Vacation Rental Inventory and Internet Portals (www.rezplus.com) which will allow us to now help our clients directly with the distribution side of their business.

RSI have developed an Application Service Provider (ASP) reservation solution for Bed & Breakfasts, Chalets, Condo Management, Lodges & Hotels, and Private Owner Direct businesses.  These solutions represent the latest in accommodation reservation technology!

RSI solutions include real-time, on-line Internet booking functionality, across their product line.  Now, any business can provide InnstaBOOK glow.gif (45823 bytes) function to browsers visiting their web site.  As our clients use and become confident with this one function, there are opportunities to upgrade to one of three reservation systems, designed for their specific business model.

These are great products.  They are affordable.  They are feature rich, and based on their ASP model, clients do not require sophisticated networks, servers, back-ups, UPS, and technical support and services.  Clients require PC's connected to the internet via Dial-up, or broadband connectivity.

How the ASP system works:

The system is ASP-based meaning that all of the applications are accessed, using high-speed Internet connection connected to the RSI hosted servers, located at a "server-farm". e-reservations can be accepted and processed, while the property is NOT connected.

What is needed for connectivity:

At the property: - We run an "application client" at the property. All of the processing is done on the hosted site. Depending the requirements, there are a number of application-layers that can be "linked" to provide a complete system being sold to either an individual property or a hotel chain. These layers are:

bulletA Reservation Management layer
bulletAn Internet based e-reservation layer
bulletA Property Management Application layer
bulletA Head-Office Application layer

Connectivity from outside of the "fixed points" of connected PC's can be achieved by plugging a lap-top into any comm.-line and signing on, using the client that has been loaded onto the laptop. This enables the company's roving management teams to connect to the applications from anywhere at any time.

At the head-office:
We run a call-center application that is fully integrated with the properties' entire inventory. A separate layer enables management to work with consolidated T/A accounting, City Ledger and Guest History information. Daily Journal Entries are produced by the system for transfer into the company's accounting system.

Environment:

bulletThe application client can be run on a standard PC (or a PC-Network or server-centric).
bulletThe application is SQL based.
bulletIdentical software is run on all of the clients.
bulletNew releases are downloaded from the Internet, a process that takes only minutes.
bulletThe database can be made accessible to head-office to generate their own, inter-company reports.
bulletSystem hosting can be done by RSI or, at the clients' site.

Benefits:

bulletLow hardware/software investment at the property level.
bulletLow maintenance costs at the property level.
bulletCentralized access to all financial information from head-office.
bulletFast, efficient synchronization of all clients' software from head-office.
bulletAll available rooms can be sold to, the call center, the property and the Internet clients.
bulletAccess to the SQL database for management to build their own reporting systems.
